Dr. David Edem Ushie is a Chief Consultant Pathologist and Lecturer at the University of Calabar and the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, with extensive expertise in dermatopathology, forensic pathology, public health policy, and medical education. With over two decades of progressive clinical, academic, and administrative experience, he has played key leadership roles in pathology services, residency training, quality assurance systems, and institutional development.

He has served as Head of Department, Chairman of major hospital committees, Coordinator of ground rounds, and pioneer leader of biomedical engineering training initiatives. Dr. Ushie has been instrumental in strengthening health systems across Cross River State through his contributions as Special Adviser on Health, where he led major reforms including health insurance accreditation, COVID-19 response coordination, IPC training, and development of state-level policies and guidelines.

A seasoned project leader, he has managed statewide healthcare interventions, spearheaded the establishment of emergency call centres and UHC data dashboards, and provided technical guidance on health financing and universal health coverage. He is also deeply committed to community engagement, cancer education, and public health advocacy.

Dr. Ushie’s professional interests span healthcare financing, public health policy implementation, forensic medicine, toxicology, crime scene science, DNA testing, and skin cancer screening, reflecting a broad, impactful portfolio of clinical and public service contributions.
